Dairy Australia

Dairy Australia

At Dairy Australia we love our sport and obviously we also love our milk!  The fact that milk and dairy foods make a great nutritional sporting partner is an added bonus!

It is well known that dairy foods are packed full of nutrients for good health and wellbeing.  Now a growing body of research is showing milk and dairy foods can play a key role in sports nutrition, particularly as a post-exercise recovery drink.  With its ideal balance of fluid, carbohydrate and electrolytes there is strong evidence that milk is a highly effective rehydration beverage.  The natural mix of whey and casein protein also means milk can help repair and rebuild muscles, achieving multiple recovery goals in the one drink.

Dairy Australia works with the AIS Sports Nutrition Department to help deliver programs to consolidate the benefits of milk and other dairy products in the diets of athletes.  Partnering with a peak sports nutrition body such as the AIS also strengthens Dairy Australia’s understanding of the use of dairy products in sport and in a healthy and balanced diet.

The AIS Open Day is a wonderful opportunity to meet families who are interested in sport and share what we know about milk, dairy products and exercise.  We will have some great giveaways including some beautiful recipe books and brochures plus for the kids there will be some fantastic insulated drink bottles to win – perfect for packing a flavoured milk or smoothie for after the game.

Berlei

Berlei

BERLEI is one of Australia’s leading intimates brand and has been working with the Australian Institute of Sport for more than 10 years.

Berlei is the only bra manufacturer that works with the institute to deliver a product that actually reduces breast bounce.

The company works in collaboration with the Institute to test the sports bras latest designs using the complex’s innovative biomechanics motion analysis system.

Berlei and the Institute developed the exclusive support factor rating system to help women determine which sports bra they should wear when doing different types of exercise.   Research conducted by the Institute revealed that during high-impact exercise, an unsupported 12B bust can bounce up to 8 centimetres and a 16DD bust can bounce up to 19 centimetres. This movement can damage soft tissue and stretch delicate coopers ligaments, which can ultimately cause breasts to sag.

Berlei works to educate Australian women about the importance of wearing an appropriately fitting sports bra and the damage that can be done to their breasts when excising without the right support.

Centenary of Canberra

Canberra Centenary

Celebrating Canberra’s Centenary

In 2013, we mark 100 years since the naming of Canberra, our national capital and home of the Australian story. Canberra has a connection to every Australian that no other city in the country does. The Centenary of Canberra offers an opportunity for Australians to revisit and re-imagine their national capital—the city that tells the story of our country’s freedom, spirit, achievements and aspirations. The year-long program of celebrations will include new and exciting programs and the very best of what already goes on in Canberra each year. It will be a year of myth-busting and demonstrating what a lively, active twenty-first century city our capital truly is.
