Corporate social responsibility

The Australian Sports Commission, and the Committee of Australian Sport and Recreation Officials have partnered with MCI Australia to develop a sustainability program for OSF13. This pledge to ethical, responsible and smart sustainable business is captured in the event’s sustainability vision/commitment.

Vision/commitment

With a commitment to providing delegates with an understanding of Australia’s sporting future, the Australian Sports Commission and the Committee of Australian Sport and Recreation Officials will endeavour to include all facets impacting on the sporting industry and the wider community, including the importance of corporate social responsibility (CSR).

Objectives

In order to achieve this, OSF13 will investigate potential areas of concern, and reduce the impact on the surrounding individuals and environment, including:

Area Sustainable event objectives
Economic and governance
  • reduce paper consumption by 20% in comparison to previous OSF forums
  • ensure 75% of key suppliers and sponsors sign the code of conduct which outlines fair and ethical practices
Environmental
  • eliminate purchased bottled water at the event
  • reduce emission from event-related transport by contracting with a minimum of 60% of suppliers from the city and surrounding areas
Social
  • create healthy climate smart menus by providing vegetarian options in every meal, source local produce, and provide the opportunity for sponsored smoothie/juice stations
  • recycle over supplies to assist the community (e.g. food and beverage and merchandise)
