AIS Recovery Symposium 2011

The Australian Institute of Sport takes great pleasure in hosting the inaugural AIS Performance Recovery Symposium from 12 to 13 December, 2011.

We wish to extend a warm welcome to sports scientists, coaches, and interested parties from National Sporting Organisations, the Australian Institute of Sport, the State Institute and Academy of Sport network, and professional sporting teams alike, to join us in Canberra at the AIS.   Speakers from the AIS and external experts will discuss recovery strategies around sleep, travel, hydrotherapy, nutrition, physiology, psychology, compression, monitoring, and athletes with a disability.

The theme for the Symposium will be "Recovery Science and Practice".  The objective of the Symposium is to disseminate information on various recovery strategies and to discuss current trends in the area.  As such presenters will outline background information regarding specific recovery themes, followed by practical recommendations and discussion. Information regarding Recovery, Nutrition and Psychological services for the London Olympic and Paralympic Games will also be presented. In line with the theme we are delighted to announce a number of external experts in the area, including Dr Stuart Cormack, Dr Charli Sargent from the Centre for Sleep Research at the University of South Australia, as well as presentations by AIS experts, Prof Louise Burke, Dr David Martin and Ruth Anderson.
