International relations

The Australian Sports Commission has a long standing international relations program, dating back more than a decade.

International Relations fosters cooperation in sport between Australia and other countries through the provision of resources, services and facilities related to sport.

It does this principally through managing federally-funded international community sports development programs in the Pacific, southern Africa and the Caribbean, and through coordinating the ASC’s relationship with foreign agencies.

International relations hosts visiting delegations from countries around the world representing various international governments and institutions.

The International Relations program builds international sporting links by:

  • Showcasing elite and community-based sporting skills, coaching and administration capacities,
  • Providing overseas opportunities for Australian sporting, coaching and administrative men and women to deliver and advance their skills,
  • Facilitating the reception of and support for international visitors to the ASC,
  • Garnering intra-governmental support by delivering quality sports programs in key developing countries.
