Pacific programs

The Australian Sports Outreach Program is an Australian Government initiative delivered by the Australian Sports Commission that uses sport as a vehicle for community development.

The Australian Sports Outreach Program’s activities in the Pacific:

  • help build the capacity of committed individuals and organisations to manage and deliver activities
  • use quality and inclusive sport and physical activities
  • contribute to improved leadership, health promotion and social cohesion. 

Pacific Sport for Development activities currently run in Vanuatu, Samoa, Fiji, Nauru and Kiribati. New programs are being planned for the Solomon Islands and Tonga. Sport for Development grants are also awarded annually.
