Canoe/Kayak Sprint

Canoe/kayak sprint is all about speed on flatwater over distances of 200 metres, 500 metres and 1000 metres.

Sprint kayaking involves racing in a seated position with a double-bladed paddle. Sprint canoeing involves racing in a kneeling position with a single-blade paddle.

Canoe/kayak sprint athletes race as individuals and in teams of 2 or 4.

Canoe/Kayak Slalom

Canoe/kayak slalom is a time trial race on moving whitewater, where athletes complete two runs on a set course, passing through approximately 20 gates suspended over the water.

Slalom kayaking involves racing in a seated position with a double-bladed paddle. Slalom canoeing involves racing in a kneeling position with a single-blade paddle.

In canoe/kayak slalom, women race as individuals, and men race as individuals and in teams of 2.
