AIS swimmer Brenton Rickard has continued his hot form by smashing two shortcourse records at a Grand Prix meet in Canberra.
Rickard sliced .05sec off the 50m butterfly Commonwealth record held by South African Cameron Van der Burg when he clocked a time of 26.62sec.
Then, less than 30 minutes later he took .10sec off Van der Burg's 100m record with a time of 57.82sec.
The 24-year-old said the high profile of other members of the Australian swim team was aiding his performances.
"There's not a real deal of pressure on me when you look at the profile of swimmers like Grant Hackett, Leisel Jones and Eamonn Sullivan," Rickard said.
"I don't have the expectation that those swimmers carry, which allows me to just focus on my preparation without too much outside intervenience."
Meanwhile, fellow AIS swimmer Felicity Galvez has gone close to recording a new world record in the 50m butterfly.
Galvez, clocked 25.35sec - just .03sec off her own world record.
