The Australian Institute of Sport's (AIS) Sports Nutrition area will work with Dairy Australia to deliver Sports Nutrition programs to consolidate the benefits of milk and other dairy products in the diets of athletes.
Dairy Australia Managing Director Ian Halliday said milk naturally contains quality nutrients and there is mounting evidence that milk and dairy products can play a role in sports nutrition and performance. 'Partnering with a peak sports nutrition body, such as the AIS, will strengthen Dairy Australia's understanding of the use of dairy products in sport and in a healthy and balanced diet.'
'We're excited about this new partnership as it will allow us to investigate the real benefits of dairy on our athletes' said Professor Louise Burke, Head of AIS Sports Nutrition. Professor Burke added, 'The partnership will provide the AIS with a dedicated Dairy Fellow in Sports Nutrition and will enhance AIS Sports Nutrition's ability to deliver world-class sports nutrition service to AIS sports and national teams.'
