Athletes Commission

The AIS Athletes’ Commission consists of current and former AIS scholarship holders selected each year from nominations received. A group of 10 athletes is nominated and selected from AIS regional or decentralised sports programs. The AIS Athletes’ Commission meets at least three times a year.

Aims

Our aims of the AIS Athletes’ Commission are:

  • to promote harmony among athletes and staff involved in AIS scholarship programs, to promote communication among AIS scholarship athletes in all scholarship programs,;
  • to monitor and resolve problems relating to the domestic environments of the AIS programs;
  • to provide peer group review of AIS athlete behaviour;
  • to communicate on behalf of AIS athletes to the AIS Executive;
  • to communicate athletes’ concerns, opinions and suggestions on education and career aspects to ACE (Athlete Career and Education) staff at local and National levels;
  • to advise AIS management on all matters affecting athletes doping, National Sporting Organisations, residence aspects, behaviour, regulations and policies, and the conduct of AIS sports programs;
  • to represent AIS athletes as invited on athlete, AIS, ASC and other forums;
  • to actively promote the AIS to the community.
