Applying for an AIS scholarship

The Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) delivers 38 sport programs across 29 different sports.

2010 scholarship applications

Applications are now open for athletes to apply for AIS scholarships in the following sports:

  • Boxing - applications have now closed
  • Track cycling - applications close 28 February 2010
  • Gymnastics - applications are open all year
  • Track and field (including events for athletes with a disability) - applications are open all year

Athletes are able to apply for AIS scholarships, in these sports (above), using the AIS scholarship application form (PDF).

The selection criteria used for each scholarship varies based on the sport, but will usually require current (or pending) Australian citizenship and national championship-level performance.

Other scholarships

Scholarships in the remaining AIS sport programs are offered to athletes following a selection process involving AIS coaching staff and the applicable national sporting organisation.

Please note that AIS head coaches reserve the right to offer scholarships to athletes at any time through the year.
