Achievements and highlights

Since the inception of the AIS, many Athletics scholarship holders have performed with distinction on the international stage. Olympic, World Championship, Paralympic and Commonwealth Games medals have been won over a wide range of track and field disciplines. Some of the more notable achievements include:

Robert de Castella

Patrick Johnson

• First Australian to run under 10 seconds for 100m (9.93 seconds), 2003
• 6th in the 200m at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki

Nathan Deakes

• Gold medal in 50Km walk, 2007 World Championships in Osaka
• 2007 AIS Athlete of the Year
