Track and Field AIS walkers to compete at Australian 50km Road Walking Championships

This weekend will see AIS race walkers, Jared Tallent, Luke Adams and Adam Rutter lining up for the Australian 50km Road Walking Championships to be contested in Fawkner Park, Melbourne on Sunday 22 November 09.

Claire Tallent will be competing in the non-championship 20km race walk, while Sean Fitzsimons, who will commence his AIS scholarship in the New Year, will be competing in 10km race walk.

For Rutter this will be his first domestic race of the season since returning from the World Athletics Championships in Berlin, Germany back in August of this year. Following the world championships Adams and Tallent competed at the IAAF Race Walking Challenge Final in Russia (Sept 09) where they finished 6th and 8th respectively.

The 50km Championships will also be a selection trial race to qualify for the 2010 World Race Walking Cup.

Timetable of events:
7.00am - Australian 50km Road Walking Championships
8.00am - 20km walk (non-championship): Men and Women
8.30am - 10km walk (non-championship): Junior Men and Women
