Beach Volleyball - Coaches
Craig Marshall
Craig Marshall was appointed AIS / National Men’s Coach in November 2005.
Mr Marshall comes with a lengthy association as a player of Indoor and Beach Volleyball in Queensland from 1989 to 2001 combining this with study to pick up a Bachelor of Arts degree double major in Psychology, where he then made the transition into coaching. He has held positions as Assistant Coach at the Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) and more recently Head Coach of South Australian Sports Institute (SASI). Mr Marshall’s International Coaching experience includes World tour since 1997, Coach of the Australian Men’s Team 2001-2005 and Australian Men’s Coach at Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004 Olympics.
Carlos Galletti (Alemao)
Carlos Galletti, better known as Alemao who was appointed AIS / National Women’s Coach in December 2005.
Mr Galletti also comes with a lengthy association as a player from age thirteen in Brazil. At the age of 21 Alemao became a pro Beach volleyball player who collected many titles including a gold medal at the World championships in Rio de Janeiro in 1995. After two shoulder surgery’s which forced him into retirement Alemao started coaching in California in 1998 with athletes including Holly Mc Peak. In more recent time Alemao was asked by the Greek Federation to be Head Coach of the Greek National Beach Volleyball Teams from 2000 – 2004, which included the Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004 Olympic Games where he was working with Shelda Bede and Adriana Behar, their sixth time World Champions and two times silver Olympic medallists.
