Myriam Fox
Myriam Fox is the AIS/NCE Head Coach having moved across from her position with NSWIS as the senior slalom coach. During her time as an Australian team coach since 1999, Myriam has guided athletes to both senior and junior World Championships and World Cups. In 2004 Myriam was also a coach with the Australian Olympic team, helping Louise Natoli to seventh place in the women’s K1 competition.
Before coming to Australia, Myriam spent two years in Marseille, France organising coaching for 20 senior and junior athletes at the Regional Centre of Excellence. From 1986-1995 she participated in technical coaching clinics and training camps in Canada, the USA, Japan, France, the United Kingdom and Australia.
As an athlete, Myriam represented France from 1979 – 1996. During this period she won two World Championships (1989 and 1993) and an Olympic bronze medal (1996). She also represented France at the Barcelona Olympics in 1992.
Myriam was appointed Head Coach on December 13 2006 after Mike Druce stepped down from the role after being involved with the Program and associated partners for 9 years. Mike will continue to work with the Program in a contract role.
Zlatan Ibrahimbegovic
Zlatan Ibrahimbegovic was appointed the NSWIS/NCE Slalom Coach on January 15 2007.
Zlatan has worked closely with the NCE Program athletes as well as with Australian junior, Team 22 and senior slalom teams over the past few years. He was previously contracted to coach athletes in the Victorian Institute of Sport and Australian Institute of Sport programs and has completed university studies in Sports Coaching, Physical Education, Teaching, Law and IT and is fluent in 4 languages.
An accomplished K1 paddler and former member of the Yugoslav national canoe slalom team; Ibrahimbegovic competed at the 1972 Munich games in addition to contesting 5 Canoe Slalom World Championships in 1969,1971,1973,1975 and 1977, and 3 Down River World Championships in 1969, 1971 and 1973.
Having coached extensively in Australia, Slovenia and in Bosnia and Herzegovina, his broad international experience will serve him well as he embarks on his newest challenge with NSWIS and the NCE program.
He replaces Myriam Fox who has moved to the AIS Head Coach position and will be based at the Penrith Whitewater Stadium.
