Canoeing - Sprint Achievements
At the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the Australian team included 11 current AIS scholarship holders, including Ken Wallace and Clint Robinson. The team had their most successful Olympics campaign with Ken Wallace achieving a Gold Medal in the K1 500m and Bronze in the K1 1000m. The K4 Women comprising of Chantal Meek, Lisa Oldenhof, Lyndsie Fogarty and Hannah Davis were also awarded a Bronze medal in the K4 500m.
Some of the year-by-year highlights include:
2009 World Championships
- Silver Medal to Luke Morrison & David Smith in the Men's K2 1000m.
- Bronze medal to Ken Wallace in K1 500m, and 5th in K1 1000m.
- 6th place to Alana Nicholls in the Women's K1 200m.
- 7th & 8th in the Women's K1 1000m and 500m to Jo Brigden-Jones.
- 8th place to Jacob Clear and Murray Stewart in the K2 500m.
2008
- Ken Wallace - Gold Medal (K1 500m) and Bronze Medal (K1 1000m) at the Beijing Olympics.
- Women's K4 (Chantal Meek, Lisa Oldenhof, Lyndsie Fogarty, Hannah Davis) - Bronze Medal (K4 500m) at the Beijing Olympics.
- Men's K4 (Clint Robinson, Tate Smith, David Smith, Tony Schumacher) - 2nd at World Cup 3 (Poznan) and 3rd at World Cup 2 (Duisburg).
- Women's K2 (Hannah Davis & Lyndsie Fogarty) - 3rd at World Cup 2 (Duisburg).
2007
- Women's K4 (Chantal Meek, Lisa Oldenhof, Lyndsie Fogarty, Hannah Davis) 6th place at the 2007 World Championships.
- Ken Wallace - 4th (K1 1000m) at the 2007 World Championships
2006
- Ken Wallace placed 5th in the K1 1000m and 12th in the K1 500m at the 2006 World Championships.
- The Men's K4 came 13th in the K4 1000m.
- Women's K4 came 6th in the 500m and 5th in the 1000m.
2004
- Nathan Baggaley won a Silver medal in the K1 500m at the 2004 Olympics in Athens.
- Clint Robinson and Nathan Baggaley won a Silver medal in the K2 500m at the 2004 Olympics in Athens.

- Australian canoeing team at the Sydney Olympics included the following scholarship holders -

- Former scholarship holders Katrin Borchert won a bronze medal in K1 500m and Andrew Trim / Daniel Collins won a silver medal in K2 500m
1996-97
- After dominating the World Cup canoeing regattas Clint Robinson was named as the World Cup K1 Champion of the International Canoe Incorporated. Clint Robinson won a bronze medal in the K1 1000m event at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
- An excellent all round performance from the Australian Olympic Sprint Canoe team was all eight Australian crews reached the finals.
1995-96
- Clint Robinson (visiting athlete) took out second place in the K1 1000m at the 1995 World Championships in Duisburg, Germany.
- Andrew Trim was a crew member of the K4 1000m team which finished in 4th place.
- Lynda Lehmann played a major role in the LK4 500m which finished in fourth position, very close to a bronze medal.
1994-95
- Clint Robinson was once again crowned the K1 1000m champion, winning a gold medal at the 1994 World Championships held in Mexico. Clint also partnered Martin Hunter in the K2 500m to win a bronze medal.
- Daniel Collins collected a silver medal in the K1 500m event also at the World Championships.
1993-94
- A number of Barcelona Olympians have recently retired and the program is going through a rebuilding process.
- At the 1993 World Championships in Copenhagen Daniel Collins won a Bronze medal in the K1 500m. The men's K4 team finished fourth and three of the team were AIS scholarship holders Daniel Collins, Heath Brown and Grant Leury. Anna
- Wood was fourth in the K1 5000m. In nine events the Australians reached seven finals.
1992-93
- The highlight of the year was the Gold medal won by Clint Robinson in the K1 1000m event at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.
- Steve Wood, Kelvin Graham, Ian Rowling and Ramon Andersson won a bronze in the K4 1000m.
1991-92
- At the 1991 World Sprint Championships in Paris all Australian crews reached the finals.
- Anna Wood finished second in the LK1 5000m and the Men's K4 10,000m team won a silver medal.
- Ramon Andersson partnered Damien Waites to win a bronze medal at the World Marathon Cup in Berlin later in the year.
1990-91
- At the 1991 National Championships, nine AIS sprint canoeists were selected in the National Senior Sprint Team for the 1991 World Sprint Championships.
- AIS Head Coach, Barry Kelly was appointed Head Coach of the National Team.
- A network of coaches was established, and a new canoeing ergometer was developed.
1989-90
- World Championship medallist and Seoul Olympian Steve Wood was appointed assistant coach and the first fulltime scholarships were awarded to women.
1988-89
- A feasibility study by the AIS and the Australian Canoe Incorporated resulted in the canoe unit relocating from Maroochydore to the Gold Coast in Queensland, where the program initially operated from two large shipping containers.
