Cricket - Men - Training
Australian Sports Commission
Residential scholars involved in the core program live at the academy for one six week and one seven week block, with players' training programs tailored to encompass intense skill and fitness work.
Training also sees players introduced to scientific techniques in conjunction with the AIS Biomechanics and Physiology departments, which are responsible for cricket-specific, sports science research.
Much of the academy's philosophy focuses on personal development. Players are supported by the AIS Athlete Career and Education Program, which provides direction for life outside cricket.
Combined with other forms of professional advice, including media and public speaking training, the CBCA program aims to develop well-rounded athletes.
Each year, for example, the CBCA sends squads of cricketers overseas for competition.
Included is an assimilation tour to Bangalore to participate in the MRF Tournament, during which the players are exposed to the variety of challenges posed by cricket in the sub-continent.
