Cricket - Women - Achievements

The AIS program has had many highlights since it began three years ago. Among them are:

  • 2001 - the squad toured England and Ireland, winning three one-day internationals against England as well as two Test matches. In Ireland the team won all three one-day matches against the Irish national squad. All players in the team of 14 were AIS scholarship holders.
  • 2002 - the national squad played a six-game series against New Zealand for the Rosebowl. Australia won the series five games to one. Twelve of the 13 players were AIS scholarship holders.
  • 2003 - Australia competed in the inaugural four-nation World Series of Cricket, playing seven games including the final and winning all games. The squad also played a two-Test series against England, winning the series one-nil with one game drawn. All players participating during the two tournaments were AIS scholarship holders.

There were also some impressive individual highlights, including Belinda Clark who is holder of the highest one-day batting score (men or women), with 227 runs. Karen Rolton holds the record for the quickest one-day century (women) with 100 runs off 57 balls. Cathryn Fitzpatrick is the highest one-day wicket-taker (women) with 107 wickets, and Julia Price is the equal-highest wicket-taker for a wicket-keeper with 78 dismissals.
