Jack Bobridge is one of the rising stars of Australian cycling. He took up the sport at the age of 15, competing in a track competition for the Norwood Cycling Club based in South Australia.
Jack comes from a strong cycling pedigree. His family has been heavily involved in Australian cycling over many years and has links with 1984 Olympic gold medallist Mike Turtur.
Since joining the Australian Institute of Sport Cycling program in 2008, Jack has steadily progressed to become one of the nation’s top track and road cyclists. He competed for Australia in the men’s team pursuit race at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and has since grown stronger and faster.
At just 20, Jack has already achieved stunning success and shown great potential competing at international level as a leading member of the Australian Institute of Sport/Jayco team.
He created history on 23 September 2009 by becoming the first Australian to claim the 23-and-under world time trial title at the UCI Road World Championships in Mendrisio, Switzerland.
This completed a remarkable season for the talented cyclist, having won six major races in 2009, including double national titles in the under-23 time trial and road race events of the Scody Australian Open Road Cycling Championships.
Jack recently signed a two-year deal with professional road team Garmin.
A memorable highlight of his career was riding alongside world cycling legend and seven-time winner of the Tour de France, Lance Armstrong, during the Tour Down Under run across Adelaide in January 2009.
Among his other pursuits, Jack enjoys fishing, the beach and the great outdoors.
Jack has excelled in track and road cycling in 2009 and is setting his sights on competing at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.
