Shayne Bannan

The AIS Cycling Head Coach and National High Performance Director, Shayne Bannan, has a long history in coaching cycling since retiring as a rider himself. Shayne is the most senior member of the current National coaching staff following various stints with the AIS and Australian Road and Track programs since 1986, Shayne now directs all elite coaches and programs in Australian cycling. Most notably in recent times, Shayne has been responsible for reshaping Australian elite cycling programs to become a major international player in the world of Cycling across all disciplines, including the establishment of the continental SouthAustralia.com-AIS road team in 2006.

Martin Barras

The AIS Senior Track Coach, Martin Barras, arrived from Canada in the mid 1990s and commenced working with the successful WA Institute of Sport cycling program. In 1999 he headed across to the UK to work with their 2000 Olympic sprint team. In 2001, Martin returned and has since worked in the senior AIS/CA track position, coaching track sprint athletes such as Ryan Bayley and Anna Meares to Olympic Gold in 2004.

Ian McKenzie

The AIS Track Endurance Coach Ian McKenzie came into the AIS as a full time coach in 2007. Ian operated as the SA Sports Institute coach for 14 years, with a dual role in the National program since 2000. Ian has developed some of the best cycling talent the country has seen and been instrumental in the international success of Australian track endurance teams, including gold medals in Teams Pursuit at the 2004 Olympics Games and 2007 World Championships.

Warren McDonald

AIS Women's Road Coach Warren McDonald has come from a strong coaching background as the former ACTAS Head Cycling Coach (1997 to 2003). During this time Warren assisted the National Elite and Junior World Championship Teams and Programs in the Road, Track and Mountain Bike disciplines. Warren has worked with a number of exceptional athletes including dual World Cup Champion, Oenone Wood.

Brian Stephens

The AIS Men's U23 Road Coach Brian Stephens has a long history with the AIS. He was Assistant AIS/Australian Men's Road U23 Coach from 1994-99, and in 1992 was an AIS Scholarship Coach. Brian now spends a majority of his time preparing riders overseas in the team headquarters, now in Varese (Italy). The list of riders which have passed through the highly successful Australian U23 system is long and include cycling stars Robbie McEwen, Michael Rogers and Alan Davis - to name a few. Brian now heads up the SouthAustralia.com-AIS road team -  an extension of the U23 and Track Endurance programs.
