Netball AIS defeats home town rivals

22 Aug 2012

From the outset it was a poised and polished Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) team that took the court against Canberra Darters in Australian Netball League in Brisbane.

Despite the Darters holding their own for the first few minutes of the game, it didn’t take long for AIS to stamp their authority and take a commanding lead ending the first quarter ahead 19-7.

Heading into the second quarter, Darters made changes at both ends of the court to try and get them into the game but nothing could stop the AIS.

The AIS shooting combination of Kate Thompson (GA) and Kristina Brice (GS) could not be faulted with the pair working together brilliantly. Thompson netting goals from long range, with Brice ready to pick up any rebounds and shooting equally well under the goal post, despite pressure from Darters Goal Keeper Lacey Borg. The AIS continued to dominate ending the third quarter ahead 58-26.

The Darters continued to try and mix up their players to counteract the dominant AIS, but it was to no avail and the AIS took the game 75-35.
