Netball - AIS Remains Undefeated on Jamaican Tour

The GC Foster College has proved a happy hunting ground for the AIS Netball team as they defeated the Jamaican 21 & U team 51 – 37 in their second game of a three game series.

The AIS came out of the blocks strongly to go into the first break with a 10 goal lead. The second quarter proved to be a good learning experience for the ‘tute shooters as they encountered a different interpretation of the contact rule and subsequently were heavily penalised. Due to the increased penalties against the Aussie shooters, the Jamaicans with increased possession, were able to fight back and reduce the score line to a two goal difference at half time.

At the half time break Coach McKinnis brought on Jasmine Keene into GS, moved Kimberly Borger out to GA and introduced Courtney Tairi into the game as Centre. These changes had an immediate impact as the AIS pulled away from the locals with a three quarter score of AIS 37 Jamaica 28.

With 2 more substitutions in the final quarter, the Aussies continued with their outstanding form winning the quarter by 5 goals and subsequently taking out the match 51 – 37.

Kim Borger was again strong on court with accurate shooting statistics of 33/38 @ 87%. Courtney Tairi (Centre) and Sam May (GD) also had stand out performances.

The AIS will go into the final game of this three game series undefeated, playing the Jamaican 21 & U team on 30th June at the Jamaican National Indoor Stadium.
