Netball Scholarships

In this section

AIS Netball is a development program that recruits its members from 21-and-under, 19-and-under and 17-and-under national talent identification programs. Full-time residential scholarships are awarded annually. The AIS Head Coach chooses successful applicants in consultation with the National Coach and the Netball Australia High Performance Manager.

Selection is based on the level of excellence and the development potential of each applicant. Scholarships are offered initially for one calendar year, but are reviewed annually with the most successful players being retained for one to three years. A limited number of visiting scholarships may be considered for some players who are unable to relocate to Canberra.

AIS Netball scholarship holders receive full board and accommodation in the AIS Residence, high performance coaching - including both teamwork and individual skill development - sports science and sports medicine support, nutritional guidance and psychological assistance, and have opportunities to compete in national and international competitions. AIS staff help athletes with their education, and career and personal development. All athletes are encouraged and supported to study or work as well as to train and compete in their sport.
