Squash Boswell pulls out of Malaysian Open

30 Jul 2009
Canberra squash player Stewart Boswell has withdrawn from the upcoming Malaysian Open due to a back injury he sustained at last week’s World Games in Taiwan.

Boswell collided with Englishman James Willstrop during the early stages of his World Games semi-final and was immediately forced to retire from the match.

He was due to fly to Kuala Lumpur for the Malaysian Open, but has instead returned to his training base in Manchester for treatment.

Australia will be represented at the Malaysian Open by Cameron Pilley, Rachael Grinham and Kasey Brown, while Aaron Frankcomb, Scott Arnold and Donna Urquhart will attempt to win through to the main draw from qualifying.

Pilley will meet Pakistan’s Farhan Mehboob in Wednesday’s first round, second seeded Grinham is up against Frenchwoman Isabelle Stoehr, while Brown has a tough opener against sixth seeded Egyptian Omneya Abdel Kawy.
