Squash Cuskelly claims fourth Squash title

07 Apr 2009

New South Wales’s Ryan Cuskelly claimed the fourth title of his career when he beat Egypt’s Amr Mansi to win the Rochester Pro squash tournament in Rochester, New York on Sunday.

Cuskelly, from Evans Head in New South Wales, downed the Egyptian 11-8, 11-7, 11-8 to add the Rochester title to the one he took out in Malaysia in March.

The 23-year-old Cuskelly won two titles in a breakthrough year in 2007 but was hampered by injury last year and slipped down the world rankings.

However, since moving to New York at the start of the year Cuskelly has rediscovered his form of two years’ ago.

He reached the final of the St Louis Invitational in January before claiming his first title outside Australia in Kuala Lumpur in March.

He never looked like losing against Mansi and dominated the Egyptian with a mixture of speed and aggression.

Cuskelly’s next outing is the Berkshire Open in Massachusetts beginning April 23.

Results (prefix denotes seeding):

Final

1-Ryan Cuskelly (AUS) bt 5-Amr Mansi (EGY) 11-8, 11-7, 11-8
