Sally Peers has secured a spot in the US Open main draw after winning her final round qualifying match at Flushing Meadows on Sunday.

Peers secured a fighting three-set win over Japan’s Junri Namigata 7-6(3) 4-6 6-4.

The AIS Pro Tour Program member will make her debut in the main draw of a Grand Slam event after she fell in the first round of qualifying at both the Australian Open and Wimbledon earlier this year.

The Victorian has achieved most of her success in the doubles arena to date, reaching the quarterfinals of the Australian Open with Britain’s Laura Robson in January and teaming with Thailand's Noppawan Lertcheewakarn to win the Wimbledon junior doubles title last year.
