Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) athlete Sally Peers has comfortably defeated Queenslander Sophie Letcher 6–4 6–3 to win the women’s final of 2010 Australian Pro Tour Ipswich International at the newly-renovated George Alder Tennis Centre in Leichardt, Queensland on 2 May.

Ex-AIS athlete Brydan Klein won the men’s final 6–3 6–4 beating current AIS scholarship holder Jason Kubler.

The Ipswich International featured some of Australia’s best tennis talent, as well as 60 top Pro Circuit players from 11 countries overseas.

In winning the Ipswich International, Peers and Klein earn valuable ATP and WTA points, which count towards world rankings and qualifying for major tennis tournaments like the French Open (23 May – 6 June) and Wimbledon (21 June – 4 July).

The AIS Tennis program, in partnership with Tennis Australia, supports the development of talented athletes by providing access to leading coaching and sport science expertise and world-class training facilities, including newly constructed clay courts modelled on the French Open surface.
