Triathlon - Scholarships

The AIS triathlon scholarship period currently runs from the end of the Australian domestic season for a full 12-month period (May to April).

Triathletes who are racing Olympic-distance events may apply for an AIS scholarship. The AIS triathlon performance manager, in consultation with the Triathlon Australia’s National High Performance Director, make recommendations for AIS scholarships to Triathlon Australia for endorsement and finally to the AIS Director.

Athletes are chosen from their results in national and international events, and on their potential to win and work together for Australian international success.

Scholarship holders receive extensive benefits including domestic  and international camps, travel and accommodation to approved national selection races and World Cup events, a Northern American and European camp, as well access to sports science and sports medicine that are individually tailored to their needs.

From 2007 and onwards, AIS  scholarships will run from January to December. As the AIS triathlon program now supports the elite triathlete whose focus is World Cup, World Championship and Olympic and Commonwealth Games competition – the scholarship period now assimilates with the triathletes’ preparatory training and domestic competition phase and the major competition phase; being ITU World Cup series and ITU World Championships.

Question: When will there be another opportunity for athletes to gain selection in the AIS squad?
