Volleyball Achievements
Since the program's relocation to the AIS main campus in Canberra, notable achievements include:
- The Australian Men's Volleyball team won the 2007 Asian Volleyball Championships in Indonesia. This was the first time Australia had won the tournament.
- Australia came 8th in the FIVB World Cup, which featured the top teams from the world, held in Japan in 2007.
- These fantastic results have lifted Australia in the World Rankings from 24th to 11th in the World (as at Jan 2008) in less than a year.
- The AIS/Volleyball Team Australia men's team qualifying for the 2006 World Championships in Japan.
- The AIS Team winning the National Volleyball Challenge in 2007 and in 2005 & 2006 the Australian Volleyball League (AVL) Championship.
- The AIS/Volleyball Team Australia men's team qualifying for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens
- The Australian Youth Men’s Team (with 10 AIS scholarship holders) finishing 8th at the 2003 World Youth Championships.
- the AIS/Volleyball Team Australia men's team finishing nineteenth at the World Championships in Argentina in 2002, second at the Asian Championships in 2001 and eighth at the 2000 Sydney Olympics
- the AIS/Volleyball Team Australia women's team finishing twenty-first at the 2002 World Championships in Germany, sixth at the Asian Championships in 2001 and ninth at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
- 22 AIS athletes are playing professionally on contracts in Europe and the America's.
