Tournament Comment – Australia finished the 13th Asian Senior Men’s Volleyball Championships in Suphanburi, Thailand, in 8th placing, ahead of ten other teams from the Asian Zone. The result was disappointing, but highlighted the inconsistencies of a young team that 15 days ago defeated the eventual champions, Japan on their home soil.

The program staff had no option but to select a young team for this event, with injuries to three of the nine Olympians who are still active and two others making themselves unavailable on this occasion. The play-off between Australia and Qatar confirmed the work that is required over the next few years to build a new team as the more experienced Volleyball Team Australia players retire.
