Winter sports Scholarships
Australian Institute of Sport (AIS)/Olympic Winter Institute of Australia (OWI) Winter Sports scholarships are awarded to Australian athletes who have the proven (or potential) ability to achieve a top ten outcome at Olympic Winter Games, world championships or World Cup competitions.
Scholarships run from 1 July to 30 June and scholarship holders benefit from a full range of AIS services, including:
- access to world-class training facilities
- high performance coaching
- fitness and strength testing and evaluation
- training programs under the direction or supervision of qualified personnel
- performance reporting and supervision
- training camps, as directed by the head coach
- accommodation and air and ground travel to and from international and domestic competitions, as approved by the OWI CEO
- sports science and sports medicine services, as approved or directed by the OWI CEO, including access to AIS services as a full non-residential scholarship holder
- team uniform, training and competition apparel
- assistance with career and personal development through the AIS Athlete Career and Education program
- access to the services of the Australian Olympic Committee’s Olympic Job Opportunities Program
- eligibility for the Australian Olympic Committee’s Medal Incentive Scheme, as detailed by the Committee.
