AIS ATTRU specialises in analysis of swimming to refine technique and improve performance utilising some of the most advanced equipment and technology in the world.
Biomechanics examines forces acting on the body, and the effects of these forces. By studying an athlete’s performance, inadequacies that are limiting their performance can be diagnosed, and the coach can then incorporate drills into the athlete’s training to overcome the shortcomings. ATTRU staff are also involved in monitoring athletes following any recommendations to see if the changes are being implemented and that they are effective.
Analysis can involve testing in training or in competition and the AIS Aquatic Testing and Training Centre is set up as one of the most scientifically advanced pools in the world. The new centre incorporates instrumented start blocks and turning walls, a magnetic timing system, highspeed camera's, large plasma screens for feedback to swimmers and coaches as well as several biomechanical analysis systems designed specifically for swimming.
