Julian Jones

Role: Overall Management of all AIS Strength & Conditioning service programs. This position is responsible for operational planning, technical discipline leadership, planning and coordination, quality assurance, staff professional development, specialist/provider/consultant engagement. Collation of resource requests and capacity assessment for AIS and national team support.

  • Graduate Diploma in Elite Sports Coaching
  • Level 3 Strength and Conditioning / Master Coach Pro Structure 
  • Level 3 Weightlifting Coach
  • Level 2 Rugby Union Coach

Coaching experience:

Worked in strength and conditioning since 1985, both in voluntary and professional capacities with sports such as basketball, rowing and swimming. A member of the Australian Olympic Team at the 1996, 2000, 2004 and 2008 Summer Olympic Games. Currently the Strength and Conditioning Coach for Women's Water Polo, Sailing and Swimming.

  • Bachelor of Information Management / Office Management, majoring in sport.
  • Graduate Diploma in Marketing Communications.

Jamie Youngson

Coaching experience:

Worked in strength and conditioning sice 2003, both in voluntary and professional capacities with sports such as swimming, rugby and basketball. Jamie originates from Scotland where he worked with the Scottish Institute of Sport, before moving to Australia to co-ordinate strength and conditioning services for the Queensland Academy of Sports's Regional Program. More recently Jamie supported the Queensland Reds' Rugby Academy. Currently, Jamie is the Strength and Conditioning Coach for Women's Rowing and APC Swimming.
