The AIS Arena came alive in February 2009 to celebrate the achievement of athletes and coaches from 2008 at the AIS Awards.

Over 420 athletes, coaches, AIS support staff and guests joined the Minister for Youth and Sport, the Hon. Kate Ellis, to honour over 100 athletes who were recognised at the ceremony.

As guests entered the immaculately prepared AIS Arena, they expressed their amazement on the transformation of the venue that is more well known for its use for sport.

Guests enjoyed the ceremony sitting at beautifully decorated tables that were awash with red and blue light and complimented by inspiring audio visual effects.

Alliance Catering, the dedicated catering partner to the AIS, continued the theme of excellence with a contemporary menu which delighted guests.

The menu included:

Smoked salmon and butter bean salad with dill and mustard mayonnaise

Chilli beef and glass noodle salad, coriander and fresh lime juice dressing

Main

Grilled lamb fi llet with minted jus

or

Brie and prosciutto chicken breast with white wine and cream sauce

Dessert

Chocolate pyramid: chocolate sponge base with chocolate mousse,

served with berry compote

or

Mini fruit pavlova with passionfruit drizzle
