Indoor Synthetic Field
The forefront of elite training and competition facilities
The indoor soccer training facility is located in the Frank Stewart training hall which opened in late 1984. The indoor synthetic field is suitable for all-weather use. This pitch is ideal for training sessions out of the elements and cross-training activities.
The box-like hall is 44m long and 33 wide and has 6 soccer goals built into the walls to allow for specific training drills. The roof is high to allow for ball flight and all light-fittings, doors and equipment are recessed or covered to allow full space use. The 2 large viewing widows are re-inforced to withstand ball impacts.
The indoor synthetic field is one of the many facilities used by the AIS Football (Soccer) program. Former AIS Football scholarship holders include Socceroos Mark Viduka, John Aloisi and Lucas Neill. The hall is also used for a range of other sports needing a robust indoor facility (such as softball, hockey, cricket) and often utilised by the AIS sports science teams for biomechnical or physiological testing.
