Track and Field
The forefront of elite training and competition facilities
The Athletics Track was completed in 1985 as a warm-up track for World Cup Athletics held at the National Athletics Stadium. With the removal of the athletics track from the stadium in 1990, the warm-up track became the home of AIS track and field athletes.
The Track and Field Centre is equipped with an international-standard running track, flood lights, electronic timing and photo-finish equipment, as well as administration and spectator amenities. The covered grandstand provides the ideal position for watching all track and field events.
The Track and Field Centre is the home of the AIS Track and Field program. Athletics was the first AIS program to integrate both able-bodied athletes and athletes with a disability in the one program. All athletes access the same facilities and services and train side by side.
