Conditions of use
Please note that Fitness at the AIS facilities are shared with many elite athletes and on occasion we may cancel or relocate group fitness classes to allow these athletes the training opportunities they require to compete on the world stage. See our current fitness timetable for more information.
Use and membership of Swim and Fitness at the AIS facilities are subject to the following conditions:
Booking policy
- Your session times will be agreed upon prior to the commencement date.
- Due to AIS training commitments the management reserves the right to change or cancel sessions at short notice.
- Personal details you disclose to us remain confidential. Reasonable efforts will be made to keep such information secure and to ensure that our employees or other agencies do not make any unauthorised use, modification, reproduction or disclosure of that information.
Access policy
- Access to Fitness at the AIS services is during the advertised times only (refer to the monthly Fitness Centre timetable).
- All fitness members must complete a fitness enrolment form before using any fitness service.
- Before participating in a fitness service, all patrons must complete and sign the gym and/or class participation sheet.
- All fitness members must swipe their membership card at reception to receive an entry pass.
- Only one entry pass per person per class can be given at one time.
- No pass = no class!
- Towels must be taken into the gym and used on equipment during a workout.
- A minimum of a singlet top or crop top and shorts must be worn at all times.
- Covered footwear is to be worn at all times. Sandals, thongs and work boots will not be tolerated.
- Patrons are reminded to maintain personal hygiene (i.e., clean clothing and deodorant) at all times whilst in the gym.
- Payment of the monthly fee entitles the bearer admittance to the Fitness at the AIS facilities and into a group session specified by the instructor at time of booking.
- A swipe card will be provided to gain you access through pool reception. Swimming caps must be worn in the pool.
- Please do not access the water or utilise any equipment prior to the commencement of your session.
- Observe all pool rules and terms and conditions for facility and venue hire.
- Glass objects and alcohol are not permitted in the centre.
- Pets or other animals are not permitted in the centre, with the exception of guide dogs.
- Employees of Fitness at the AIS are the only instructors permitted to conduct learn-to-swim and fitness sessions.
- The AIS is a non-smoking facility.
- The gym instructor on duty reserves the right to terminate any workout that they deem may lead to an accident or injury of the participant or other patrons.
- Management reserves the right to refuse entry.
Conduct
- Patrons must respect their fellow gym users at all times.
- Patrons must observe directions/instructions given by AIS Fitness Staff.
- Derogative comments or abusive language will not be tolerated.
- Inappropriate or disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated.
Equipment use
In consideration of your fellow patrons please:
- Be mindful of peak times in the gym (i.e. 4-7pm) and limit your time on cardio equipment to 20 minutes.
- Return weights to their weights stack after use.
- Do not drop weights or leave weights lying on the floor.
- Wear gloves when using the boxing equipment.
Please note
Failure to comply with the above policy could result in Fitness Centre Management asking a patron to leave the premises, with membership suspension, membership cancellation, and/or permanent restriction from Fitness at the AIS services allocated to that patron if deemed serious.
Policy for Children and Adolescents in the gym
To ensure the safety of all patrons to the facility, children, adolescents and parents are requested to adhere to the following policy.
Children under the age of thirteen
Children under the age of 13 are not permitted to enter the gym.
Children under the age of 13 can only participate in a fitness service if:
- Accompanied by a personal trainer of group exercise instructor.
- They are participating in a sporting team, junior athletics squad, school group; or
- A special physical activity program conducted by the centre; or
- Other supervised or structured activities
Adolescents under Sixteen Years of Age
Adolescents 13 years to 16 years may utilise the gym, only if:
- A parent or guardian over the age of 18 has witnessed and signed their fitness member enrolment form.
- Their initial gym session includes being booked in for a gym program.
- They have been issued a fitness program from a gym instructor.
The gym instructor on duty reserves the right to terminate any workout that they deem may lead to an accident or injury of the participant or other patrons.
If the above conventions are not followed, management reserves the right to refuse entry to the facility and remaining membership monies will be refunded.
Payments
- Payments and passes are non-transferable and non-refundable.
- Payments are to be made in full prior to the commencement of each new calendar month. Cash, cheque, Visa, MasterCard or EFTPOS accepted.
- Our receipts contain sufficient information for claiming a proportion of fees back on some health benefits. For further information contact your health insurance provider.
- Your instructor will ask to see your receipt of payment each month.
- Concession cards must be shown at the time of purchase to gain a discount for memberships.
Class cancellation/refund policy
- No refunds will be granted.
- A current medical certificate will allow memberships to be suspended. This must be supplied to the coordinator.
- Some sessions are in high demand and it is difficult to fit make up classes in. Help us by giving us sufficient notice.
- Missed session make-up times are a privilege not a right. (Aqua recovery only).
