Trainer profile - Ippon Hitoshi

What is your background?
I moved to Australia in 2005 to play rugby union, learn English and complete studies in fitness, sports development and coaching. Once completing my studies I started working for various rugby union teams and clubs to enhance my skills in coaching and fitness. Tied in with my coaching I was offered a casual position with Fitness at the AIS as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor.
 
What attracted you to the AIS?
The ability to gain experience training clients in an exceptional training facility, and to see/meet the best athletes in Australia. 
 
How do you stay motivated?
Knowing that when working in elite training facilities, my great Japanese spirit and training knowledge will provide me with exciting sport/fitness opportunities in the future. 
 
What advice would you give someone who is just starting out?
 
- Be patient
 - Be consistent
 - Get a training buddy
 - Expose yourself to training routines that you enjoy
 - Remember that variety is the key

What keeps you busy outside work?
 - 
Coaching rugby union
 - Attending sports/fitness workshops 
 - Researching and exposing myself to new fitness and coaching trends
