Swim school programs

Learning to swim is not only a fun and interactive way to stay fit and healthy, but is also an essential skill in preventing accidental drowning. Our swim school programs offer something for everyone.

We pride ourselves on our seamless approach to our learn-to-swim lessons, designed to progress each swimmer at a rate that suits them, not us. Each lesson has a detailed skills continuum to work through, which is both challenging and fun!

Infant aquatics

The vital life skills of water familiarisation, buoyancy and water safety are taught in a fun and interactive environment by AUSTSWIM infant aquatics specialists. This program is specifically designed for infants from the age of 12-36 months upwards and teaches parents how to encourage their child to be confident in the water. Parent and child teams participate in songs, games and activity circuits which, through play, develop water familiarisation, gross motor development and safety skills.

Preschool program

Preschool classes are aimed at those swimmers aged between three and five years. Our small class ratios ensure continuous improvement as children learn the skills of submersion, flotation and locomotion, building on the water-confidence and safety skills learnt as infants. This program gives participants the opportunity to develop sound beginner and advanced techniques, as well as grow their confidence as they improve and move through the levels.

School-aged program

School-aged programs are aimed at swimmers attending primary school and high school. Programs are designed to develop the skills of the four swimming strokes — freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly — first in basic form, and later using more advanced stroke mechanics and techniques.

Swim fit

Non-competitive swimming classes are available for those who want to learn the key swimming skills. Programs ensure participants are kept challenged throughout each lesson. Participants must have sound knowledge of all four strokes.

Adult learn-to-swim

This comprehensive program is designed for those who come to the sport of swimming later in life. Patient, understanding and qualified instructors work at each participant’s pace to ensure each individual achieves their goals.
