ERASS 2005

The Exercise, Recreation and Sport Survey (ERASS) was a joint initiative of the Australian Sports Commission and State and Territory Departments of Sport and Recreation, conducted on an annual basis between 2001 and 2010.

The first survey was conducted in 2001. This publication presents results from the fifth annual ERASS collection, which was conducted in 2005.

The ERASS Annual Report 2005 is presented differently from those of previous years. In the past, ERASS commentary focused on participation statistics, namely persons who had participated in exercise, recreation and sport at least once in the 12 months prior to interview. In 2005, the report focuses on exploring the characteristics of persons who participated in exercise, recreation and sport three times per week or more on average over the 12 months prior to interview. New data tables presenting these participation statistics (that is, participating three times per week or more) are also included. All data tables provided in previous ERASS reports are presented at the end of the 2005 report.
