Sports Video Library

The National Sport Information Centre (NSIC) has a collection of more than 5000 videos (VHS and DVD) available for loan covering:

  • sports specific coaching
  • general coaching
  • sports events and games
  • physical fitness
  • sports science and sports medicine
  • Olympic and Commonwealth Games
  • general interest sports tapes

The NSIC Catalogue  under Video Button allows you to search for titles.  Enter in sport or relevant keywords ie Basketball , Basketball  and Shooting . Click on Details for Information regarding current loan status and Details for summary of contents. New videos are added to the collection all the time.

This service is restricted to Australian residents and libraries

Membership information

Three types of membership are available:

Individual membership

  • Individuals pay $30 per calendar year to join the video library, and then pay a $10 postage and handling fee for each tape borrowed. Videos are loaned for seven days - the loan period starts from the date the applicant receives the tape.
  • A maximum of three videos can be borrowed at any one time
  • Payment must be made before videos are lent.

School libraries membership

  • No membership fee is payable. Loans are made through the school library, not through individual teachers. There is a $10 postage and handling fee per video.
  • Videos are loaned for 7 days - the loan period starts from the date the applicant receives the tape.
  • Payment information - invoices can be sent and payment can be made by cheque, credit card or Australian Library and Information Association voucher.

Australian libraries membership

  • No membership fee is payable.
  • Standard inter-library loan fees apply - $13.20 per video for core requests.
  • Payment information - invoices can be sent and payment made by cheque, credit card or Australian Library and Information Association voucher.
