Funding

The Australian Sports Commission (ASC) is the Australian government body responsible for the delivery of funding and development of Australian sport.

The ASC supports a wide range of programs designed to develop sporting excellence and increase participation and achievement by all Australians.

  • The ASC allocates the majority of its funding through National Sporting Organisations (NSOs) & National Sporting Organisations for People with a Disability (NSODs). In order for a NSO or NSOD to receive funding, the organisation must be recognised as the pre-eminent organisation responsible for the development of the sport within Australia.
  • The ASC partners with State/Territory Departments of Sport and Recreation to develop and deliver programs and services to build the sustainability, capability and capacity of the sport industry in Australia.
  • The ASC has a number of programs where funding is provided to individual sportspeople.
  • There are also a number of other sources of funding that may be of use for sporting organisations.

If you have a question or query regarding the ASC and funding, please check the frequently asked questions section of the site.
