The Australian archery team has taken out the Recurve Junior Men Teams World Championship in Antalya, Turkey.

The team consisting of AIS scholarship holders Taylor Worth, Ryan Tyack and Ricci Cheah showed great skill to defeat Ukraine 210-207 in the final.

Just like they did in their preliminary matches, the Australians were forced to come from behind in the final.

Victory was clinched with the final three arrows giving Australia the gold medal.

AIS Assistant Coach Robert Turner said the future of Australian men’s archery was looking bright.

“The team showed great mental strength under extreme pressure and showed that their training under triple Olympic medallist Kyo Moon Oh had paid off,” Turner said.

“The boys had the opportunity to train with the Olympic team earlier this year and see what’s required to move up into the open division.”

“I’m confident that with the correct training you will see these young archers advance to the senior ranks in years to come.”

In the individual men and women's events Jane Waller (AIS) finished fifth, while Taylor Worth (7th).
