The ASC Media Awards are open to all journalists and broadcasters whose work appeared in the Australian media between 1 October 2007 and 28 September 2008.
Now in its seventh year, the ASC Media Awards focus on analytical, insightful reporting in the presentation of sport and sporting issues by journalists, broadcasters and photographers.
The categories for the 2008 ASC Media Awards include:
- Lifetime Achievement Award for Contribution to Sports Journalism
- Best Reporting of an Issue in Australian Sport
- Best Contribution to the Coverage of Sport – by an Organisation
- Best Contribution to the Coverage of a Sport – by an Individual
- Best Profiling of an Athlete, Team or Coach – broadcast media
- Best Profiling of an Athlete, Team or Coach – print media
- Best Sports Journalism from Rural, Regional or Suburban Media

The ASC Media Awards continue to attract a quality field of entries from sport and sport affairs journalists, broadcasters and photographers. The Awards now also regularly attract non-sports media such as news, current affairs and business media, which is recognition of the Awards' profile and importance. The ASC Media Awards are Australia’s premier sports media awards and the only dedicated awards recognising sports journalism, broadcasting and photography.
Winners from the 2007 Media Awards included: Inside Sport, Alpha magazine, Nine Network Australia, ABC Television’s Australian Story, ABC Radio, Sky News Australia and the Herald Sun.
Winners will be announced at the gala presentation dinner at Sydney’s Doltone House on Monday 24 November 2008.
