AIS softballer takes out top NAIDOC Award
AIS and Australian softballer Stacey Porter has been honoured at the 2008 National Naidoc Awards by taking out the Sportsperson of the Year Award.
In 2002 she made her senior debut for Australia becoming the first Indigenous Australian to represent her country in softball.
Porter has since represented her country on 180 occasions and is regarded as one of the world’s best female batters.
She will be a key member of the Australian women’s softball at the upcoming Beijing Olympics.
The Australian team is looking to go one better than the silver medal they won at the 2004 Athens Olympics.
