For the second time in Beijing, sprinter Evan O’Hanlon (AIS) has made history.

The 20-year-old became the first cerebral palsy athlete to run 200m in less than 22 seconds, claiming gold in the process.

Victory came after O'Hanlon became the first to breach the 11 second mark in the 100m.

O’Hanlon gave it everything, and was exhausted after the race.

“That was pretty tough down the strait, I had a bit of a sloppy bend and I thought I’d better make up for it in the strait, so I was working overtime,” he said.

“It feels great – second gold, second world record. I just cracked the 22 [seconds], just cracked the 11 so I’m happy.

“Taking the CPs [cerebral palsy athletes] to the next level, so it’s great.

“Both times in the race, I felt like I could do it – put the race together well. If you see me smiling on the line, you know I’ve got it.”
