Delaney wins second final at world championship trials
AIS scholarship holder and Beijing finalist Ashley Delaney scored his second win of the trials in the 200m backstroke, breaking Olympic bronze medallist Hayden Stoeckel's Commonwealth record.
Delaney, who won the 50m backstroke final, clocked 1:55.82 for the 200m backstroke to finish ahead of Stoeckel, who finished in 1:57.38. The Institute’s Robert Hurley finished third in the time 2:00.04.
In the final of the men's 100m breaststroke, Olympic silver medallist Brenton Rickard (AIS) and Christian Sprenger dead-heated for first, both touching in 1:00.64.
