Moffatt wins third straight world championship triathlon

Australian Institute of Sport athlete Emma Moffatt has won her third straight race in the Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU — World Championship Series, in Hamburg, Germany on 26 July.

Moffatt claimed victory in 1:56:12, beating Sweden’s Lisa Norden (1:57:06) and Switzerland’s Daniela Ryf (1:57:39). The win, in race five of eight, has extended Moffatt’s overall lead in the series to 3140 points. She is followed by New Zealander Andrea Hewitt (2229) and Ryf (2089).

Moffatt will be working to maintain her lead in the final three races, which take place in London (15 August) and Yokohama, Japan (22 August), and on Queensland’s Gold Coast (12 September).
