Moffatt leads world championship triathlon series
Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) athlete Emma Moffatt is leading in the points tally as she goes into the final race of the Dextro Energy Triathlon — ITU World Championship Series, taking place at Southport on Queensland’s Gold Coast this Sunday 13 September.
After seven rounds, Moffatt is in first place on 3140 points, followed closely by Sweden’s Lisa Norden (3020) and New Zealander Andrea Hewitt (2766). Ex-AIS athlete Emma Snowsill is in 11th place (1818).
Moffatt has enjoyed good form in the series, winning three of her seven races: Washington on 21 June, Kitzbühel (Austria) on 12 July and Hamburg on 26 July.
In the men’s series, AIS athlete Brad Kahlefeldt is the highest ranked Australian, in eighth place on 2276 points, ahead of Courtney Atkinson (2101), also an Institute athlete.
