The Oceania Boxing Federation (OBF) has selected three Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) athletes to compete in its 2009 AIBA Presidents Cup team. The Presidents Cup will take place in Baku, Azerbaijan from 6 to 13 December 2009.

The AIS scholarship holders — who are members of the Australian Sports Commission’s National Talent Identification and Development (NTID) program — joining the OBF team are:

• Luke Boyd (New South Wales) — 54kg division
• Qamil Balla (Victoria) — 64kg division 
• Damien Hooper (Queensland) — 75kg division.

The AIS/NTID boxers will continue their training in Canberra, supported by coaches Bodo Andreass and Don Abnett, until they depart for Azerbaijan.
