Day 3 saw a number of sports move towards medal rounds, while our gymnasts continued to dazzle at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium.
Lauren Mitchell won her second gold medal in her comeback event after proving peerless in the women’s all around individual competition.
Mitchell, who was part of the Australian team that won gold on the opening day of competition, led a gold, silver and bronze sweep in the individual event, with fellow AIS athletes Emily Little and Georgia Bonera winning the minor medals.
In archery, the men’s Recurve team won 3-1 to progress to the semi-finals. AIS athlete’s Taylor Worth and Matthew Masonwells combined with former AIS athlete Matthew Gray to defeat Canada.

In the men’s team event for table tennis, Australia secured a berth in the quarter-finals following a 3-1 victory over Canada, while former AIS tennis player Peter Luczak teamed with Paul Hanley to move into the semi-finals of the men’s doubles.
In the women’s singles, AIS players Olivia Rogowska and Sally Peers moved into the quarter-finals and Rogowska teamed with AIS counterpart Jessica Moore to ease into the quarter-finals in the women’s doubles. They were joined by Peers and Anastasia Rodionova.
On the squash courts David Palmer, Stewart Boswell and Cameron Pilley, all former AIS athletes, failed to make it past the quarter final stage of the men’s singles, but there was better fortune for the AIS’s Kasey Brown, who won an epic five set match over Northern Ireland’s Madeline Perry.
The Hockeyroos scraped a 2-1 win over host nation India to remain undefeated in their pool games while Louise Ellery won Australia’s first track and field medal of the event with victory in the women’s shot put Para Sport.
